summer camping

Hey hey...new week, new camp subjects. My morning camp is World Crafts, so we did one of my favorite projects, Mexican dia de los muertos nichos.

In the afternoon, I have Famous Artists. Our artist of the day was Henri Matisse.

Tomorrow is Japan and Jackson Pollock.
peace.

odessey

Still in the 60's (but no longer French)...a little psychedelic in honor of last night's gig (see previous post) and the album I've been listening to all day (with my left ear, because my right ear is still ringing).

and let me try with pleasured hands

Zombieeeeeeeeeees! Y'all who know me (and who have seen me dance) know that I get totally lost in music and sometimes go into a complete fugue-state (so to speak). Last night I had one of those rapturous moments. As I screamed hold your head up at the top of my lungs with my arms in the air, all hot and sweaty, I was in ecstasy. Freakin' awesome.

Now we're there and we've only just begun
and this will be our year
took a long time to come

art clay silver-licious

David Hughes came to our camp class today to teach the students how to make jewelry using clay silver.
[clay slip painted on (real) leaves]

[they rolled out some clay silver and used stamps, texture plates and cutters to make charms and pendants]

[syringes and cork clay to create lacy beads]

[David used a blow torch to fire the pieces]

[liver of sulphur oxidzes the silver]

[when polished, the impressed or stamped areas remain dark and the surface is shiny silver]

wicked.
great week - thanks y'all!

la nostalgie

Encore une autre conception des années 60 de mod.
[une conception combinant le bloc d'hier et le bloc d'aujourd'hui]

beadalicious

Today was the first day of KAC summer camp for the grade school, middle and high students (so far it's just been the preschoolers). That means there are eight camps a day now for the rest of the summer. That's a lot.
My subject this week is jewelry making. We started simple and did beading today.

The digital photography students took my picture while I was taking their picture.

peace out.
p.s. I'm speaking English.

une caresse

I'm more than halfway through my 366 blocks and so far I have only carved and not done any other relief print techniques. So...to remedy that, today's block is made using a fun foam door hanger, cut up and glued onto another chunk of fun foam. Click here for more details.
Ah, j'ai oublié, je parle seulement français maintenant. Désolé.

mini, mini, mini

I've been obsessively listening to 60's French pop music (and current French pop music that might as well be from the 60's) lately, so I've decided to do a series of 60'sesque, mod, geometric designs.
J'ai aussi décidé que je vais seulement parler le français désormais. Bien?
