fini

So yeah. I'm done. In the coming weeks, I'm going to try to make an animation of all 366 blocks (with my husband's help). I'll post it when it's finished. Meanwhile, here they are. Some I loved, some I hated, some were good enough. My favorites are at the bottom of the post.

my favorite...

my second favorite...

and I have a special, deep, unhealthy love for this guy who is my new boyfriend (but don't tell my other boyfriend - Otto, the muscle man I carved back in July)...

Thank you all for supporting me, leaving me comments and suggesting subjects for me. This was a lot of fun, but I must say I'm glad it's over. See ya!

...and when you put the last four blocks together, you get me (sorta).

godzilla

Yeah. Godzilla. He has nothing to do with anything...it's just that he's been awakened and he's coming to wreak havoc on the townspeople and eat the village and there's nothing we can do to stop his trail of destruction.

der Weihnachtsbaum

I made this block by chopping up (and gluing back together) a corregated cardboard box that arrived in today's mail.

on dasher

Okay. Trying to catch that elusive Christmas spirit. This is based on the reindeer from the project I did for Quilting Arts Magazine's Gifts issue - on sale now! Go buy it!.

[see, he's right there on the cover]

running away to join the circus (part 7)

A happy-to-be-doing-it dancing bear (for Took). I'm in no way suggesting that one should force bears or any other animals to dance, or wear tutus or ride each other or anything like that. I, on the other hand, love to dance and spent much of my childhood in a tutu, so if I were this bear, I would be happy-to-do-it. For some reason, Disco Inferno is running through my head - I think that's what he (yes he) is dancing to. I still have a fever, be nice to me.

running away to join the circus (part 6)

Le bear on le unicycle. Yeah, I'm still feverish...it's the best I can do at the moment.

running away to join the circus (part 5)

Yeah, so another someone in a tutu riding someone else block. I have a fever, so I don't even know what this looks like. I hope it looks like what I mean it to look like.

I just noticed the dame has skinny toothpick arms like me...must be a self portrait.

my date with Rhett Miller

Okay, not so much a date. Just me standing at his right foot while he played the guitar. Again. Like so many other times before. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Rhett.

running away to join the circus (part 4)

This is supposed to be a dog in a tutu riding a tiger. I'm in a hurry, so I was carving a little too fast to make it look right. Oh well, you get the idea.

ta da

Okay, so. A while ago I co-wrote a book called the Art Quilt Workbook with Jane Dávila. You might remember it from me blogging about it. Or not. Anyway, we went and wrote us another book. Art Quilts at Play will be released in January 2009, and is described thusly - 22 exciting new ways to play with surface design techniques and materials, plus ideas for collaborating with other artists. Bonus: Challenges, Trades & Collaborations.

If you are so inclined, you can pre-order a copy (with our autographs and everything!) from me (click me).

We had a bunch of student artists and collaborating artists who contributed their work, and we are ever so grateful to them.

our collaborating artists:
Natalya Aikens
Woodie Anderson
Liz Berg
Gail Ellspermann
Janet Ghio
Rayna Gillman
Terry Grant
Kathryn Hunter
Andrea Jenkins
Jane LaFazio
Mati McDonough
Tricia McKellar
Kim Rae Nugent
Karen Stiehl Osborn
Virginia Spiegel
Beryl Taylor

elephant v 2.0

A few weeks ago I got a request for another elephant. I'm on record as liking elephants, I mention it often. So, yeah, a girl can never have too many elephants.
