it's for you I swoon

According to Blog365, today is a day of rest - no blogging. However, I made the pledge that I would do a block every day (including leap day), so I have to.

continuing randomness

I've been memed again. This time it was my lovely and talented friend Marie who tagged me. Here's the dealio...

1. When tagged place the name of the person and URL on your blog
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Write 7 things about yourself
4. Name 7 of your favorite weblogs
5. Send an email letting those bloggers know they have been tagged!

7 things about me:

1. I like to drive alongside moving trains.

2. I once met Mr. Rogers at a party.

3. I was born in the year of the rat.

4. My husband fell for me because of my impressive knowledge of Hitchcock trivia.

5. I brake for caterpillars. Seriously.

6. I like to take pictures of dogs I meet.

7. I frequently write on my hand.

While there are quite a few blogs that I read daily or almost daily, I generally don't pass memes or chain-like things onto others. If you're a blogger in my sidebar list of favorite blogs and you're aching to participate, consider yourself tagged.

I decided to make an alphabet. Doing it all at once and in order, however, is too predictable and boring. So I'm going to make letters randomly and intersperse them with other images.

QATV DVD

from Quilting Arts... Series 100 of "Quilting Arts TV" is rolling out on PBS stations across the country, but you can have all 13 episodes in one 4-DVD set for just $39.99. Learn from the pros whenever you want! The DVDs are in stock and ready for shipping.

Some of you might recall that I taped an episode for QATV. In said episode, I demo how to make a fabric collage with a photo, talk about elephants and say the words curvilinear and curvilicious. As an extra bonus, if you look closely, you can see I'm only wearing one shoe. How's that for a sales pitch? Click here to buy a copy.

Yes, I'm spelling something.

grotesquery

A gargoyle, loosely inspired by the movie I saw last night. Loosely, because my gargoyle is actually in Paris.

heartbreak, old friend

C'mon. Who didn't think I would do this for Valentine's Day? My friend Maria and I had talked about the image of an anatomically correct heart ages ago and it's been in my head ever since.

I needed a cat image for another project (super secret for the moment, as always) I'm working on this week, so here he is.

anthozoa

Here I am under water again. Could it be symbolic? Do I feel like I'm drowning? Possibly. Today's block is coral...to be used with fishies.

retrograde

Things are enormously chaotic right now. Among other things, I've been without internet (which is like crack to me) for the last 30 hours and without power for a good portion of the day. My friend Sarah explains my current chaos by telling me that Mercury is in retrograde. I think it's just chaos.

blue whales

I'm working on another project (secret and unpostable for now) that includes an image of a blue whale, so I've been drawing whales for the last few days. I actually started carving this block Saturday, but abandoned it because I didn't like it. I started again today and added the baby (because there was too much empty space). Now I like it again. It's carved on an Inovart Smooth-Cut mounted block and printed with acrylic paint.
