IF ... zoo
Okay, I'm cheating, this is an old piece, not specifically made for IF. But...it's Thursday and I didn't have time to make anything new. This is a picture of Tuss, who was my favorite elephant (yes, I had a favorite elephant - it's no secret that I like elephants) at the Bronx Zoo. When she died, I made this piece to remember her by.
peace.

what a lovely story behind your artwork!
very sweet....
I like the idea of having a secret liking for elephants. The idea of elephants as a guilty pleasure, like chocolate, like detective novels. You in New York and we in Toronto, have far too few chances to meet elephants. Our lawns are too small to provide much in the way of forage. If you live in an apartment it is tough to get them in and out - and the freight elevator has to be booked days in advance.
You have to be severe in your furnishings because their tail and that elegant vase that you bought for next to nothing at the flee market on Columbus (for you NYCers) and Front Street ( for us Torona guys)do not last long in the same small spaces.
Best to keep it a secret.
Flee market - I must have wanted to make a quick exit.
Flea marker is what I meant to say, or free market.
Lovely artwork for a lovely "friend". Very touching.
I had favorites at the zoo too. That makes us special :) (In a good way!)
I saw one of your comments on someone's blog and you said something was "wicked good." I would have sworn you were from massachusetts!
How odd that you like elephants - so do I. It's a piece of information I don't often share as it only inspires lots of funny looks from people.
Thanks for leaving your comment on my sad little blog. It may take me a bit of time to get into the habit of blogging but I'm on my way.
I love this. I really enjoy your fabric work:)
Hmmm, a favorite elephant. :-) Love your work, by the way. And fyi, if you do a google image search for epigastric fossa your picture is the first result. Heh heh.
Glad to have found your blog!!
