end of the week - jewelry camp

Today was the last day of jewelry camp at KAC. The kids made shrink film charms, which they made into bracelets and earrings.

Watching the charms cook is really, really fun - they curl up into a ball and then flatten out again.

The metal clay pieces that were kiln fired we ready today. We put them in a tumbler to make them shiny. (check yesterday's entry to see what this piece looked like before it was fired)

Then we made the pieces into jewelry.

This piece was made by extruding the silver clay (out of a syringe) onto a heart formed out of cork clay. The clay burns away in the kiln.

This is extruded silver clay on a glass bead.

and being goofy.
It was a great week. Thanks guys - I had a lot of fun!

Stay tuned...next week is a repeat performance of World Crafts and Altered Art.
